Local Backup System
A second NAS or a direct-attached array on your network, replicating from the primary each night.
Cloud Archival
Encrypted backup to AWS S3 Glacier, Backblaze B2 or Wasabi, set to run on a schedule and checked by an actual restore.
LTO Tape Archive
Studios with big archives often use LTO-8 or LTO-9 tape because the cost per TB is low. We pick the drive, set up the software and write the rotation routine.
Backup Monitoring
Alerts for failed jobs, low capacity and drive health, so a broken backup is reported to you instead of discovered during a restore.
Restore Testing
We restore from each tier on a regular schedule and write down the result. A backup nobody has restored is a guess.
Worth repeating
RAID is not a backup.
RAID keeps a volume running when a drive dies. It does nothing against ransomware, deletion, theft or fire. A backup is a separate copy, on separate media, in a separate place.

How much backup storage will we need?
It depends on your camera formats, how many projects stay active and how long you keep archives. We look at your current projects and growth to size each tier.
Will backups slow down our editors?
Replication is normally scheduled overnight, and cloud uploads can be rate limited so they do not compete with editing. We confirm this during setup.
Do we need LTO tape?
Not always. A second NAS plus cloud covers many studios. Tape makes sense when the archive is large and rarely read, and you want an offline copy.
Who owns the hardware and cloud accounts?
You do. Equipment and cloud accounts are set up in your name, and we hand over documentation and admin credentials.
Can you keep monitoring after setup?
Yes. We can stay on for monitoring and restore tests, or hand it to your IT person with a written runbook.
